Katharine Hope McPhee [born March 25th 1984] is an American pop singer and actress who was the runner-up to Taylor Hicks on the fifth season of American Idol in 2006. Born in Los Angeles, California, McPhee moved with her parents and sister to the Sherman Oaks neighborhood at age 12. McPhee has been singing since the age of two. Her mother, Patricia Burch McPhee [stage name Peisha Arten], a vocal coach and accomplished cabaret singer, recognized a talent for music in her daughter and decided to train her.
Katharine McPhee is the eponymous debut album from American Idol season five runner-up, Katharine McPhee. The album was released on January 30th 2007 by RCA Records. It debuted at No.2 on the Billboard 200, selling 116,000 copies in its first week, behind Norah Jones Not Too Late. Over It music video hit No.1 on both TRLs and VH1s Top 20 countdown. Over It debuted at No.1 on the VH1 top 20 countdown, and maintained the top position for three consecutive weeks. The songs video also hit No.1 on MTV Asias Pop 10 Chart for 12 consecutive weeks. Love Story was released as the second single from the album on May 22nd 2007. Love Story debuted at No.3 on MTV Asia and has peaked at No.1.
